New Eagle Scout project at Lakeville Swamp Nature Sanctuary

On Saturday December 6, Matthew R. of Chippewa Troop 209, along with fellow scouts and leaders installed new sections of boardwalk at the Michigan Nature Association Lakeville Swamp Nature Sanctuary. The 80 feet of boardwalk will enhance the experience of visitors to the sanctuary. The sanctuary is located on Rochester Road just south of Lakeville Rd.

  • 1FebWinter Carnival (Fish O Ree)Come on out on the ice and shore for a day of ice fishing and shore activities. This event will go on regardless of weather. Be sure to dress warm and bring extra clothing. Boots and gloves generally will get wet. ICE FISHING IS DEPENDENT ON ICE CONDITIONS. THERE ARE OTHER ACTIVIITIES AVAILABLE INCLUDING SNOW SNAKES Make sure to bring your ice fishing pole. Additional poles may be available. Bait will be provided. Event cost includes hotdog, chips and hot chocolate. The first 100 scouts to register will receive a snow snake kit. Prizes will be awarded for largest fish caught, most fish caught and the most creative pack/troop/crew banner.     $10.00 per Staff A one-day, one-night winter campout. Scouts will compete in Patrol/Crew events emphasizing Scout skills, teamwork and spirit. AOL Scouts are invited to participate at the event on Saturday ONLY. They MUST be registered with a Troop to attend. The event officialy ends on Saturday at 6:00pm but if units want to camp on Saturday night they are more than welcome. However, there will not be any program provided.
